Obamanation?

I don’t get all this craziness about Obama. Will someone please explain to me how, out of all the possible candidates, this guy will possibly get the nomination? His total experience is 3 years in Washington after 7 years in the State Senate in Illinois. Before that he was an associate at a law firm for 3 years and before that a “community organizer”. So why are people ready to give ultimate decision-making ability, the highest executive position in the universe (well, second highest) to a guy who has never ran a business or a state or a city or anything? I don’t see the elect-ability factor in play here.

So some people have compared him to Kennedy. I’ll remind them that Kennedy was in the senate for almost 8 years, was in the house before that and came from a family with political experience. I’m not saying that the guy isn’t intelligent. But the election is a job interview, and his resume isn’t impressive.

More people are saying “he gives hope” – hope for what? As far as I can tell, this guy doesn’t stand for anything except not being Hillary Clinton! And does anyone believe that the best solution in Iraq is just to walk away? How about some shot of reality juice, people!?

I like to think that his popularity is simply an Anti-Clinton referendum. That makes me feel satisfied because, in reality, shes not the best alternative anyway. I like to think that when the choice comes down to someone who has served the nation his entire life and someone who has done it for 3 years, voters are going to make a sound decision. What happened to the qualified Democrats who could’ve made this a race, anyway? Why did Bill Richardson not get more traction – he was the most qualified for the job!

It just seems to me that the negatives on both of the democratic frontrunners are to great to overcome. It’ll be an exciting race. My personal preference is to have Hillary get the nod – at least then we’ll have the mighty Clinton political machine to entertain us throughout the cycle!
