So, it took me this long to comment about the Devils/Rangers series. Very disappointing… I think in LIST form so here are my observations:
- I hate the Rangers more than the Yankees. There are players on the Yankees I can tolerate but I pretty much hate all the Rangers. Though Drury is a class act, Avery is a scumbag and the others aren’t far off.
- I hate Rangers fans MORE than Yankee fans, and that’s saying a lot.
- My theory on sports and living in NJ – coming in a future post.
- The Devils need to get DEVILS FANS in the Rock. Its just that simple. I went to game 1 and game 2 and there were as many Rangers fans as there were Devils fans. I understand that this means that tickets were bought and the organization made money, but I feel that some incentives for Devils fans in particular would’ve helped.
- The Devils need to get some firepower in the off season. I hate to say it, but why not go after Jagr if even for a one year contract, to show that we can get to their best players as well. Its obvious that if Gomez wasn’t on that team, the series may have tilted the other way. Perhaps someone with a shot from the point would be good, and someone who can skate the puck in so they don’t constantly dump it!!!
- Gomez was a class act in the after-series interviews, maybe he realizes that he got his rings in NJ but he’ll make his money in NYC. I wonder which is preferable.
- Rangers fans taunting Brodeur should remember the 3 cups and the gold medal…
- The security at the Rock and the police outside are useless. In game 2 they were barely able to control the crowds. They’ll have a riot some day if they aren’t careful.
Anyway, disappointing indeed so now, I root for whoever takes out the Rangers. I think that’ll happen soon enough.
