@Pawn, so you are saying that NONE of these examples could have gotten a better deal? I disagree. Give me proof they couldn't have. It can go either way. The only disadvantage that these sellers were at was that they were probably hard-up for cash. If they could have held out, they would have done much better. Perhaps the one guy walks and sells on eBay if he doesn't get a better deal - all he'd have to do is start at the price offered as a reserve and with the much larger pool of internet shoppers, he'd get a much better price. Lets face it, pawn shops are only in business because people desperately need cash, in such speed that they can't go sell it on the internet. If it wasn't for that, then pawn shops would quickly disappear like other institutions that are either gone or will be soon: video rental joints, photo processing centers, etc.

The point of this post was that the sellers didn't even TRY to negotiate at least once. They all took sucker deals way too fast. They went in without a plan and left being screwed.

Hey Pete,

The problem is your entire article is based on "if he negotiated, he COULD HAVE gotten more. You have absolutely no emperical proof of any of that, unless you have a time machines and can go renegotiate it.

Go do some deals of your own, and then you'll have something to write about.

Good comment and I agree also. How could this ship w/o a USB port? How cool to put your flip cam videos straight onto this device and watch it, or upload to YouTube?!? Sheesh.

Pharma sales, great example. It's a mobile salesforce that needs a tool like this.

Agree also on MacOS. It would be better if this was MacOS w/ USB, a webcam and SD reader. I'm sure it'll happen soon enough...!

Great overview. Another great use for it would be for pharma sales, they all carry around laptops now for the doctors to review, tablet would be much nicer. I'm sure there are a lot of others as well, reading text books for instance would be better on an iPad than on a iPhone or macbook.

I agree with "dischinabox", first revision always sucks, next gen gets better. Also would have preferred they used the laptop platform instead of the iphone platform, not having multiple apps kind of sucks.

I can't give it my recommendation based on my 20+ years of using Apple products. The first revision of everything they put out is always very limited in its capabilities. Look at the iPod vs the Gen 2. The Macbook Pro is a great example as well. The 2nd revision was fantastic. Ultimately, Apple will get the sales they need from Macheads to acheive their successful launch. Then when Gen 2 comes out (Maxi Pad?), it'll have a much larger hard drive, an SD slot, and maybe a web cam. Also, since it's unlocked, how long until T-Mobile and other sim card/3G friendly cellular services offer a plan? Also, at what point does AT&T start offering an iPhone/iPad service plan that offers a discount to users with both devices?

I'm also interested to see if we start to see streaming video services available on the device, ie ESPN 360. Imagine being on a 3G/WiFi friendly flight and being able to watch a sporting event?

Finally, I think the most glaring omission from this product is a USB port. It's the most universal port for multible devices. Ultimately, I think we got what people predicted: an iPhone that met its match with a rolling pin. I wish we got a 13" Macbook Pro that got it's base cut off. Oh well.

I wish I could say I did get somewhere. I sold the computer after putting Windows 7 on it (which fixed a few of the problems). A good approach may be to go after their Twitter account, where you can usually get in touch with a high level marketing individual. Good luck!

Hey Pete - did you ever get anywhere with the XPS1340? I'm past Dell's return period and have jumped through too many hoops with them and realize I have a lemon. I started with XP, went to Windows 7 and went back to Vista, have had the motherboard, memory and dvd drive replaced, it looks like I may have to sic amex on Dell - how did your saga turn out?

I still use it. There are things I'd love to add, but still, its simple and effective. I hope someday they will restart development.
